Sustainability & Well-Being
At Chatel Transfer, we believe sustainability isn’t just about the environment—it’s about people, safety, and smart business too. From reducing emissions with shared transfers to nurturing the well-being of our team, we’re committed to being a responsible, sustainable company.
Private group Transfers and Shared Transfers: Better for You, Better for the Planet
Whether you’re heading to a business conference or bringing your family to the resorts of Châtel, La Chapelle d’Abondance, Abondance, or the surrounding Portes du Soleil area, the way you travel matters.
Opting for a minibus transfer with Chatel Transfer means:
- Less congestion in mountain towns
- Reduced CO₂ emissions per person per kilometre
- Fewer individual cars on the road
- Shared fuel costs and lower environmental impact
Whenever possible, we combine transfers to reduce empty returns that waste fuel and increase pollution. Our planners may ask clients to adjust departure times slightly to fill vehicles both ways, making a big difference in emissions.
For Example: When 3 groups of 2 and 2 individuals travel together in a single 8-passenger minibus instead of 5 separate cars, we save approximately 40–60 kg of CO₂ per round trip.
Our Fleet: Modern, Maintained & Monitored
We operate a clean and reliable fleet of Euro 6 diesel vehicles, regularly serviced and maintained for efficiency and safety:
- Renault Trafic (2023, 2024, 2025 models)
- Ford Transit (2025 automatic)
- Mercedes V-Class (2021)
Each vehicle is equipped with AdBlue to reduce NOx emissions and is inspected on a regular basis by our drivers. Weekly maintenance logs include:
- Tyres, brakes, fluids, AdBlue levels
- Windscreens and lights
- Interior & exterior cleanliness
- Fuel usage and technical performance
Carbon Offsetting: Taking Responsibility for Our Footprint
During the winter season, our 10 vehicles operate 5 days a week, averaging 200 km per day for 4 months. In summer, 2 vans run around 100 km/day for 2 months.
That adds up to approximately 50,000 kg (50 tonnes) of CO₂ emissions per year.
Our Response: Tree Planting for Real Impact
To offset our 50 tonnes of CO₂ emissions per year., we’ve planted 100 trees in 2024–2025 through a trusted program. https://tree-nation.com/fr/certificat/40ffe6a824129aef
- Each tree absorbs 250 kg of CO₂ over its lifetime (~50 kg/year).
- At 1€ per tree, this represents a dedicated investment in long-term sustainability.
We’re proud to say these 100 trees will absorb 50 tonnes of CO₂, matching our yearly footprint.
Caring for Our Team: Health, Safety & Happiness
Our people are at the heart of what we do. Their safety, mental health, and job satisfaction matter deeply to us, this is why we encourage our team to take advantage of the following program.

Risk Prevention & Safety (DUER 2024/25)
We take safety seriously—for clients and staff. Our team follows clear risk-reduction practices as part of our DUER (Document Unique d’Évaluation des Risques) plan:
Key Safety Actions
- Winter readiness: Snow/ice clearing, snow chain training
- Glove use for chemicals (AdBlue, oil, cleaners)
- Stretching after long drives to avoid injury
- Accident & incident protocols: First-aid training, fire response, reporting procedures
- Fatigue prevention: Minimum 9–11 hours between shifts
- Child travel care: Guidance for parents on motion sickness
- Legal compliance: All drivers have full documentation, SEFRI approval, and insurance
What Clients Say About Our Drivers

Our drivers are more than just chauffeurs—they’re ambassadors of kindness, calm, and trust.
Supporting Our Community: Helping Young Talent Chase Big Dreams
At Chatel Transfer, sustainability isn’t just about the environment—it’s about people and the community around us. That’s why we’re proud to support young athletes striving to reach their full potential.
We are honored to sponsor Tia Freshwater, a promising British Olympic ski racer from Vacheresse, Rhône-Alpes, France. As an international company with many clients traveling between the UK and the Rhône-Alpes region, we’re committed to helping Tia chase her Olympic dreams by providing shared transfers to and from the airport.
By supporting Tia, we’re investing in the future of sport and inspiring the next generation of athletes.

Every transfer we complete is an opportunity to tread a little lighter on the planet.
